Former WWE star still signed with AEW; last seen in action almost a year ago - Reports

The contract status of a certain former WWE Superstar who is signed to AEW has just surfaced. They have not been seen in any capacity in almost a year. This would be Mercedes Martinez.

Martinez has been in the industry for around two and a half decades now. She is known for her work in WXW, ROH, and the independent circuit. She was also signed to WWE for over four years, competing in Mae Young Classics and beginning runs in NXT and the main roster. She eventually signed with AEW in 2021.

Mercedes Martinez has been competing on both AEW and ROH and according to the latest report from Fightful Select Answers, she remains under contract with the company. She has not seen in the Jacksonville-based promotion since Winter is Coming in December 2023, and her last appearance on ROH was in April of this year.

The AEW star was inducted into the Indie Hall of Famer earlier this year

In April this year, Mercedes Martinez was inducted into the Indie Hall of Fame. She made a name for herself on the independent circuit, competing there for over a decade. She has also cemented herself as one of the most hardcore women in the industry.

The ceremony took place on April 7, and The Briscoes and Sabu were among those inducted alongside her.

It remains to be seen when the former ROH Women's World Champion will return to either of the Tony Khan-led promotions. She has not had the best run on the promotion this year, but she had a brief reign as the world champ before getting dethroned by Athena. She could also head back to All Elite Wrestling and start a run there.
