Heartbreaking update on Eddie Kingston amid AEW absence - Reports

Eddie Kingston has been out of action for months, but many fans were hoping to see him make an appearance in the Continental Classic this year. Unfortunately, it seems that The Mad King will miss out on the tournament. A new update has just shed some light on Kingston's condition and road to recovery.

Eddie Kingston is a fan-favorite in AEW. He mounted an improbable comeback in last year's Continental Classic tournament and ended up winning it. Eddie represented the company as a Triple Crown Champion but unfortunately injured his knee in May of this year.

According to Fightful Select, Kingston was originally thought to have broken his leg. However, it was soon revealed that he'd suffered an ACL and meniscus tear that required surgery. Fightful notes that he's not expected back until the spring or summer of 2025.

Eddie Kingston is on the road to recovery

Eddie Kingston's injury is, unfortunately, a common one in the world of wrestling and sports. The Mad King is currently out of action, but his rehab seems to be going well, and he can even exercise and lift weights now.

Kingston gave an update while speaking on The DAVINci Report back in September:

"Just healing up from a fracture of my tibia, strain on my meniscus, and I had to get my ACL replaced. A lot of fun. It's been a process. It's going good, until my insurance acts up, and that's when I get annoyed. Insurance is a fraud, folks. Just throwing that out there. I'm starting to get itchy at home. I can walk now, a little bit. I can walk, I can lift weights. I can do squats a little bit, not too low. Now it's at the point of, 'Let's hurry this up. Let's get going,'" Kingston said.

AEW has gone through a few changes since Eddie was injured, and his former best friend, Jon Moxley, is now running wild with the Blackpool Combat Club. It remains to be seen whether Kingston joins them or sets himself against his former ally when he returns.
