Historic announcement expected for AEW Collision - Reports

AEW is reportedly gearing up for at least one more major announcement before the end of this year. The company often saves its announcements for Dynamite but according to a report by Andrew Zarian, the next big breaking bulletin is related to Collision. Tony Khan is seemingly working on something massive for his pro wrestling companies, and it is set to be disclosed in an upcoming reveal.

Khan will reportedly bring ROH back to the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City for the 23rd annual Final Battle. No actual date was given earlier this week, but Ring of Honor's flagship event has been held in December since 2002. Earlier this year, Khan expressed interest in running an AEW event inside The Manhattan Center. ROH has had several shows in the 12,000-square-foot ballroom since 2008, as have WWE, NJPW, TNA, and GCW.

According to the update from Andrew Zarian on X, AEW is set to air the 74th edition of Collision from The Hammerstein in New York City on Saturday, December 21. The event is slated to be held the night after the ROH Final Battle, which is important this year due to Chris Jericho's purposeful reign.

The report has seemingly confirmed the ROH Final Battle for Friday, December 20, and this is in line with the pay-per-view being held on a Friday in recent years. It wasn't clear when AEW and ROH would confirm either date, but they were not listed on the public schedules as of this writing. The official announcement will likely be celebrated by fans, as the NYC crowd is known to be controversial and unique.

AEW Collision's updated lineup for this week

All Elite Wrestling will invade the MVP Arena in Albany, NY, this Thursday. The company will tape its 70th Collision episode, which will air on Saturday night in the usual TNT timeslot.

Officials have booked three high-stakes matches on the road to Full Gear. Below is the updated lineup:

  • Daniel Garcia vs. Johnny TV (with MxM Collection)
  • Full Gear 4-Way Contenders Series: The Acclaimed vs. La Facción Ingobernable
  • No DQ Rubber Match for Women's World Championship: Mariah May (c) vs. Anna Jay

LFI will be represented by Rush and The Beast Mortos. It will be interesting to see if they book a place in the four-way tag team match for Private Party's AEW World Tag Team Championship at Full Gear 2024.
