Huge update on Tony Khan's promotion's future [Reports]

Tony Khan is currently involved with the operations of two major wrestling promotions. A major update has now emerged regarding one of the aforementioned brands relating to the possibility of a broadcasting deal.

Besides serving as the CEO and Creative Head of All Elite Wrestling, Khan is also the owner of Ring of Honor. He purchased the company and its assets in 2022 and has helped produce its weekly programming which can be streamed on Honor Club. ROH will soon present its annual event, Final Battle 2024, set to emanate from the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom later this month.

In the meantime, fans have continued to speculate on recent reports regarding ongoing negotiations over a potential television deal for Ring of Honor. Rumors even suggested that it was in order to raise the brand value of ROH amid these talks that Chris Jericho may have been crowned as the new ROH World Champion recently.

An update on the matter has now come from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The report claims that "multiple stations" are currently in discussions over the prospect of a weekly ROH show, presumably for television broadcast. Exact details regarding these negotiations remain unknown at the moment.

Notably, Tony Khan secured a massive and lucrative media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery earlier this year for airing AEW's product on TBS, TNT, and streaming on MAX from 2025 onwards.

Former ROH owner on Tony Khan's handling of the company

Wrestling fans have already witnessed a lot of synergy between AEW and ROH since Tony Khan purchased the latter promotion two years ago. This is evident from the regular cross-over of talent and personnel between the two brands. However, the All Elite President's handling of Ring of Honor has garnered some criticism in recent months, including from the company's former owner Cary Silkin.

During an appearance on the Mat Memories from Madison Square Garden podcast in July this year, Silkin said:

"Ring of Honor of that era tried to show some respect to professional wrestling. Sure we had some wacky stuff. Sure we had the the flippy dippy do was coming into fashion. The flippy dippy do was going on with Édouard Carpentier too... Ring of Honor, there was some good pro wrestling going on in that segment of it. Right now, Ring of Honor, it's like no one cares at all. I don't care how much money Tony Khan has. It's not being treated very well." [H/T - WrestlingNews]

It remains to be seen whether or not TK will succeed at locking in a television broadcast agreement for ROH soon.
