Kenny Omega's AEW return countdown already begun - Reports
Kenny Omega will return to AEW in the long run, which will greatly relieve Tony Khan. The former AEW World Champion is one of the most decorated wrestlers, and he has been missed for a long time.
Omega has been out for the entirety of 2024 after suffering from diverticulitis towards the end of last year. He underwent surgery and has been rehabbing for the best part of this year. Kenny briefly returned in May, only to be attacked by Jack Perry.
Omega will take on Gabe Kidd on January 5 at Wrestle Dynasty in Japan, and according to Fightful Select, that was done with the blessings of Tony Khan. The outlet is now reporting some rumors that Kenny Omega might be showing up in the company at the Worlds End pay-per-view. However, they are not sure what capacity they should use.
This week, Dynamite aired a vignette about his impending return, and with this report, it's all but sure that he will return soon.
Jim Ross names Kenny Omega as his favorite wrestler
Jim Ross has seen a lot of wrestlers during his long and esteemed career as a commentator, and he knows a talent when he sees one.
He recently revealed that Omega is one of his favorite wrestlers and hopes AEW does not lose him from competing. He was speaking on his Grilling JR podcast when he said:
"So you know, we’ll see. But Kenny Omega is one of my favorites. I’m just selfish, I want my guys to be front and center… I just don’t want to lose Kenny Omega permanently from AEW television. He’s too good, he’s just really, really good. And guys like that don’t come along all the time. They don’t grow on trees, as the little cliche goes. But they know they don’t come along, but only a few times in a lifetime. So you hate to lose a guy that’s got that much talent, that much first versatility.”
With Omega about to return, Jim Ross hopes to comment on his matches very soon.
