Last-minute update on Ricochet ahead of AEW Forbidden Door 2024 - Reports

Ricochet was reportedly written off WWE television a few weeks ago. New details have come to light regarding his contract status ahead of the 2024 AEW Forbidden Door.

Ricochet has been one of the most exciting wrestlers in the years. His impressive performances in the indies earned him a WWE contract in 2018. The One and Only did well during his initial years in NXT and even won the North American Championship. His performances quickly earned him a main roster call-up the following year.

The highflyer's run on the main roster was decent in the beginning, with him winning the United States Title and the Intercontinental Championship, however, apart from his feud with Logan Paul last year, he was not part of any major feuds over the past few years and it last month it was reported that he chose not to re-sign with the Stamford-based promotion.

A few weeks ago on RAW, the former NXT star was seemingly written off television after a brutal assault by Bron Breakker that resulted in him being carried off in an ambulance. With Forbidden Door around the corner, there were rumors that he could show up at the pay-per-view.

During a recent Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about the possibility of Ricochet appearing at Forbidden Door. Sean confirmed that The One and Only will be still under WWE contracted during the pay-per-view.

Will Ospreay is in touch with Ricochet

Will Ospreay and Ricochet have shown that they have incredible chemistry in the ring. They have put on some classic encounters in the past before the former Intercontinental Champion headed off to WWE. Hence, it is safe to assume that they are good friends behind the scenes too.

During a recent interview with SHAK Wrestling, Will Ospreay admitted that he has been in touch with the WWE star every now and then. He also said that he hopes something pops off.

"Honestly, so I've said this to a lot of people recently. I've been shouting his name off in the distance for years and I really do mean years. And it's only now, just because his contract is coming up, people are thinking something's gonna happen. Listen, I speak to Ricochet every now and then. There's nothing been said between us about whether something is gonna pop off, but like honestly, I hope he does," Ospreay said.

It will be interesting to see whether The One and Only will make the move to AEW once his WWE contract is up.
