Latest update on Miro requesting his release from AEW - Reports

Miro reportedly had recently requested his release from AEW. New details have come to light regarding this matter.

Miro started his AEW career by dominating his opponents in the ring. He even captured the TNT Championship quickly after joining the company. His performances in the ring were so impressive that he signed a two-year contract extension in 2022. However, since then, it has gone downhill for The Redeemer.

The former WWE star has barely been seen on television in the past year. His last match for the promotion came at AEW World's End 2023 when he defeated Andrade. He has yet to compete on TV this year and it was also reported he asked for his release from the company due to creative differences. There have also been several pitches for his return but they have been rejected.

During a recent episode of the Fightful Select Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp stated that there was no confirmation on whether Miro's release request had been granted by Tony Khan.

“I haven’t heard that he has gotten it as of yet. I have been given no indication that he got that release even though he asked for it,” he said.

Jim Cornette believes WWE won't bring back Miro

The recent reports surrounding Miro and his request for release have turned a lot of heads, with many believing that he could return to WWE. However, a wrestling veteran doesn't think this will happen.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Jim Cornette said that WWE won't be interested in re-signing the AEW star due to his track record of being a "problem child." Cornette further noted most athletes on the Stamford-based promotion's roster were already over with the fans and they did not need the 38-year-old in their ranks.

"Why would they want him? At this point, everybody they've got's over, he lives in Bulgaria, he's been a problem child at the other company unless he's got some close friends there he can plead his case of complete innocence and he hasn't acted like a stable type of individual himself," he said.
