Major AEW show to go off air by the end of 2024 - Reports

AEW is reportedly planning to end one of its major shows by the end of the year. The show is none other than AEW Rampage.

All Elite Wrestling and Warner Bros. Discovery renewed their deal which allows the Tony Khan-led promotion to keep Dynamite and Collision on WBD networks. The deal also brings the opportunity to stream both shows on Max starting January 2025. However, AEW Rampage has taken a backseat in the negotiations as the promotion is planning to cancel the show due to decline in ratings.

In a recent report by Andrew Zarian on the Mat Men Podcast, It was revealed that Rampage will be gone by the end of the year. The company might be looking to revive Dark and possibly launch a new show titled Shockwave after securing the rumored deal with FOX ahead of WWE SmackDown's departure from the network.

Dave Meltzer claims WBD owns some part of AEW after new deal

Warner Bros. Discovery and All Elite Wrestling's renewal has been one of the major news reports to come out in the past week. The deal allows the promotion to move Dynamite and Collision to Max and the whole library of All Elite Wrestling will also be available on the streaming platform.

In a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that WBD holds a percentage of All Elite Wrestling. He said that it's a good thing for the company as it allows them to have good timeslots and make the promotion profitable.

"I’ve heard from many different people for a while that they [WBD] have a percentage. I don’t think that it’s a giant percentage but that is a part of the deal. They do own a percentage of the company. Which has been a good thing for AEW because the reality is it encourages them to give them good time slots, it encourages them to make the company profitable because they’re gonna share in the profits. It’s a good team, that deal works out." [H/T: WOR]

It will be interesting to see how the landscape of the Jacksonville-based promotion looks once it moves to Max in January 2025.
