Major AEW star quit former promotion due to backstage issues [Reports]
Major AEW star Kota Ibushi recently severed his ties with a prominent wrestling promotion. He is no longer associated with DDT Pro Wrestling.
The Golden Star started his wrestling career in DDT, making his pro wrestling debut in the promotion in July 2004. He has held many championship belts in the company, including the IMGP World Heavyweight Championship, the KO-D Openweight Championship, the Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship, and many more.
A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter delved deeper into the recent news which features the separation between Kota Ibushi and DDT Pro Wrestling. An anonymous source close to the situation informed that the 42-year-old star quit the Tokyo-based wrestling promotion after some of the younger wrestlers on the roster made disrespectful comments about him.
It was reported that these young talents didn't want him in the company as they believed his presence was polarizing. They were asked to apologize but didn't, which forced The Golder Star to take such a drastic step. Therefore, he won't make any appearances for the promotion henceforth, and his recent matches have also been removed from the company's streaming platform.
Kota Ibushi might return to AEW soon, but not alone
Kota Ibushi was sidelined from January 2 to July 1 due to several ankle injuries. He has returned to wrestling but has yet to make his way back to AEW. A few months ago it was reported that he might return to the Jacksonville-based promotion soon but not alone.
Kenny Omega, who is on the shelf due to diverticulitis, is rumored to return around the same time as the Japanese wrestler. They have been spotted training together several times over the past couple of months.
Omega and Ibushi are long-time friends. They have spent many years together as a tag team in DDT Pro-Wrestling under the tag team ring name Golden Lovers.
