Major backstage update on Saraya after she loses at AEW Collision: Grand Slam 2024 - Reports
Saraya recently competed in a brutal match with an intriguing stipulation at AEW Collision: Grand Slam 2024. New details have come to light regarding the backstage reaction to this bout.
The start of Saraya's AEW run felt like a flash in the pan. Soon after debuting for the Jacksonville-based promotion she was thrust into the main event scene. She also won the AEW Women's World Championship at All In 2023.
However, her career took a drastic turn for the worse ever since she dropped the title to Hikaru Shida on the October 10, 2023, episode of AEW Dynamite. Since then, she has barely been involved in any major storylines.
However, that all changed at AEW All In 2024 when she was in the ring complaining about not having a match on the PPV in her home country. Jamie Hayter made her surprise return after 15 months and attacked the former WWE star and her family. This kickstarted a rivalry between both women.
The former AEW Women's World Champion then challenged Jamie Hayter to a 'Saraya Rules Match' at AEW Collision: Grand Slam 2024. After a brutal clash, it was Hayter who came out on top.
Speaking on his Backstage Report podcast, wrestling journalist Sean Ross Sapp said that the match between these former Women's World Champions was received positively backstage.
“She had a match at AEW Collision Grand Slam that ended up getting a lot of positive reception backstage,” he said. [H/T Ringside News]
