Major star's return at AEW All In was kept a secret; "almost nobody" knew - Reports

An AEW star's return at All In was kept highly confidential as he returned to in-ring action after over a decade. The star being discussed is Nigel McGuiness.

The 48-year-old star has been working as a commentator since 2011. He started at the commentary desk in ROH and then worked for WWE from 2016 to 2022. He is currently signed to AEW and provides commentary for Collision episodes on Saturday nights.

Nigel McGuiness was considered one of the top wrestlers in ROH for a long period by many. He wrestled for the promotion from 2003 till 2011. He then announced his retirement after wrestling a match on the independent circuit. Despite being retired, he has hinted at returning to the squared circle many times.

At All In's Casino Gauntlet Match, Nigel shocked everyone after he entered the match as a participant. Not only did he come out of retirement 12 years ago, but he interacted with massive stars in the contests. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the star's entry in the Casino Gauntlet Match was a top secret and not many in AEW even knew about this plan.

AEW star Bryan Danielson wants to wrestle Nigel McGuiness

The 48-year-old star has called out The American Dragon from the commentary desk for years now. The duo were arch-nemesis during their days in ROH.

While speaking in Casual Conversations with the Classic, the AEW World Champion revealed that he wanted to face Nigel McGuiness. He was also afraid about the physicality of the contest between them.

"It's interesting because obviously I would love to wrestle Nigel. I get afraid of fan expectations, of what it would be, because I don't know how many people have actually seen our matches, but it's like they were very physical matches... That's the thing I would be afraid of, is people's expectations of what they think it should be," he said.

It will be interesting to see if Bryan and Nigel cross paths in the future now that the commentator has seemingly come out from retirement.
