Major title match at AEW All Out 2024 canceled - Reports

A title clash between two top AEW stars that was set to take at this Saturday's All Out Pay-Per-View has been reportedly canceled. The match was for the CMLL Women's Championship.

All Elite Wrestling and CMLL have a working relationship that allows both companies to hold crossover matches with their talents. CMLL Women's Champion Willow Nightingale was initially booked to defend her title in a Street Fight against Kris Statlander at All Out 2024. However, according to reports, the two stars are now booked in a new bout against each other without the CMLL title being put on the line.

In a recent report on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the Street Fight was originally supposed to be for the title, however, CMLL might have stopped the promotion from booking their title in a Street Fight.

“So the Willow match with Kris is not a championship match. It was originally supposed to be a title match and I think because of all this – maybe because of the anniversary show thing, the agreement was they wanted to announce it before so it wasn’t a title match. Maybe CMLL didn’t want the title in a street fight? I don’t know but whatever it was, it was supposed to be a title match and it’s not a title match on Saturday.” [H/T: WOR]

AEW star Mercedes Mone recently named Kris Statlander and other talent as some of her dream opponents

Mercedes Mone arrived in All Elite Wrestling earlier this year and quickly became a big star. She is the current TBS and NJPW Strong Women's Champion. However, The CEO still has a plethora of female talent she has yet to face inside the squared circle.

In a recent interview with Beyond The Fame podcast, Mercedes Mone named Mariah May, Toni Storm, Kris Statlander, and other big stars as her dream opponents in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

"Mariah May has the [AEW Women's] championship, so I'd love to face her. Toni Storm is incredible, Thunder Rosa, Kris Statlander, Jamie Hayter just made her return at All In, so I'd love to step in the ring with her. The dreams are endless at AEW. It's not only the AEW roster, I also get to face the Stardom roster, the CMLL roster. AEW is going global. Any woman who wants to come after my championships, I'm always ready," she said. It will be interesting to see who will rise up to challenge Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship in the near future.
