Major update on AEW potentially introducing new titles - Reports

AEW has introduced many titles since coming into the scene in 2019. Some recent reports have shed light on the Tony Khan-led promotion possibly introducing Women's Tag Team Championships soon.

The women's division in AEW has some top stars who often get lost in the shuffle due to a lack of storylines. All Elite Wrestling could introduce Women's Tag Team Titles which can also be defended on Ring of Honor to give TV time to the underutilized talent. Tony Khan revealed earlier this year on Double or Nothing Media Call that he has an interest in introducing the titles.

In Fightful Select's Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp reported that there have been no serious plans to introduce Tag Team Titles for All Elite Wrestling's women's division. However, he did note that the idea had been pitched several times.

"I’ve never heard of any serious plans of a Women’s Tag Team Titles. In fact, the closest I’ve ever heard was the women’s tag team tournament years ago. It’s definitely been pitched at times, but I haven’t learned of any steps there.” [H/T: RingsideNews]

Tony Khan confirms he owns all of AEW after recent rumors

AEW recently renewed its deal with Warner Bros. Discovery which will allow the promotion to stream Dynamite and Collision on Max. The shows will be available on the platform starting January 2025. However, after the news of the deal broke out, rumors began to circulate that WBD owns a small percentage of All Elite Wrestling.

In the AEW WrestleDream Media Call, Tony Khan confirmed that he owns the majority share of All Elite Wrestling and has 100% voting stock.

"I will not get into our ownership structure but I will say that I have 100% of the voting stock in this company and have since the beginning, and hold the vast majority of shares...As the sole voting owner and the vast majority shareholder of the company, I think that speaks volumes and I'm the controlling owner with 100% voting control of the business," Khan said. We will have to wait and see if the company's ownership changes in the coming future.
