New developments revealed for AEW's plans in 2025
Details regarding AEW Forbidden Door 2025 have just surfaced, and the promotion is planning to hold the pay-per-view at a popular venue in London. This would be the O2 Arena.
For two years now, Tony Khan's promotion has been holding a pay-per-view event in the UK, with this being All In. However, next year's edition of the show will not be taking place at Wembley Stadium, as the show is set to make its American debut at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, in 2025. It has been reported, however, that the company plans to hold Forbidden Door in London.
A recent report from Fightful Select has mentioned that, as of writing, All Elite Wrestling is planning to hold the next edition of the crossover event at the O2 Arena. This year, Forbidden Door was held at the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York, and featured the biggest names from AEW, NJPW, CMLL, and Stardom on the match card. Forbidden Door IV will take place on August 24, 2025.
AEW has been reportedly holding back on announcing the venue due to WWE
A few days ago, a report came in from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the O2 Arena has been considered for the promotion, but they have been holding back from making an official announcement due to WWE's European tour.
WWE is set to run several shows in Europe ahead of WrestleMania next year. Some of these are set to take place in the UK, with O2 Arena being a reported venue. It seems that AEW has wished to hold back from announcing details until the Stamford-based promotion has completed its tour.
All Elite Wrestling has seen success so far with its pay-per-view being held in the UK, as both editions of All In have sold more than 50,000 tickets, with the first edition even reportedly going over 80,000. It remains to be seen how the company will fare for the third year in a row in the country.
