Nobody in AEW comes close to what a 6-time WWE Champion earned - Reports
A veteran pro wrestling journalist has claimed that no one in AEW currently makes more money than what a WWE legend earned in the past. Dave Meltzer recently reacted to a fan's statement regarding the legend's income on social media
The six-time WWE Champion in question is none other than Hulk Hogan. After becoming the Stamford-based promotion's biggest babyface between 1983 and 1993, Hogan joined WCW. The Hulkster was one of the highest-paid wrestlers in the now-defunct company.
A fan on X/Twitter recently claimed that some current AEW wrestlers were making more money than what WCW earned in the 1990s. Dave Meltzer contradicted the statement, mentioning that nobody in the Tony Khan-led organization was earning close to the amount Hogan earned in World Championship Wrestling.
"Laughable. Nobody in AEW comes close to what Hogan was making in WCW," Meltzer wrote.
WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan shared his thoughts on AEW
Hulk Hogan was integral to WCW's success in the '90s. The company gave stiff competition to WWE during the Monday Night Wars.
The Hall of Famer was recently asked whether he followed AEW and what he thought about the promotion's current status. In an interview with Forbes last year, Hogan said the Tony Khan-led organization needed more experience to succeed.
"Yeah, I do follow AEW. I think they're onto something. I think, like, whenever you're a race car driver, if you want to get really, really good at driving you need a lot of seat time. I think those boys at AEW—there's a lot of professionals there. I think the whole company needs a little bit more seat time. Even though they're going head-to-head and doing their thing, all that time being on the road." [H/T: Forbes]
Hulk Hogan has yet to make an appearance on AEW TV since the company's inception. Only time will tell whether the WWE legend will ever show up in All Elite Wrestling.
