Popular AEW star's return stalled due to lack of creative plans - Reports
An update regarding a popular AEW star's current status amid their almost a year-long hiatus has just surfaced. To this day, there were reportedly no creative plans in place for them. The star in question would be Danhausen.
The Very Nice, Very Evil star has not been seen in the promotion since his brief appearance in December last year. He was part of a Battle Royale at the Worlds End Pay-Per-View for a future shot at the TNT Championship. Luchasaurus ended up winning the entire match.
Fightful Select has just provided an update on Danhausen. It was reported that while his contract with AEW is set to run into the summer of 2025, there were no plans in place for him currently. It was also mentioned that internally, the belief was that he preferred to work in the independent circuit rather than make appearances on Collision. He has also been unavailable at times due to family-related reasons.
The report also mentioned how he was previously scheduled to make his return this year, but creative plans could not get finalized. He has supposedly not been in constant communication with AEW, except for instances where he'd let them know about his plans in the indies, which was a protocol in place within the company.
The AEW star posted an interesting message about his status earlier in the year
Amid his hiatus from the Tony Khan-led company, Danhausen has become a frequent competitor in the independent circuit.
Back in May this year, he posted an interesting message where he claimed that he was only betting on himself. He posted a picture from a photoshoot of his and claimed that he did not believe in anyone but himself.
"I answer to none. I belong nowhere. I believe in nothing except myself," he wrote.
This may be the case for his career as well as he has seemingly focused more on his appearances outside AEW and has not been able to be on the same page with the Jacksonville-based promotion regarding his booking. It remains to be seen whether common ground can be reached between the star and AEW, with his contract coming up soon.
