Popular tag team turns down AEW's offer; heading to WWE - Reports
A top tag team has reportedly rejected AEW's contract offer to ink a deal with the WWE. The team is none other than Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin).
The Motor City Machine Guns are one of the best tag teams in professional wrestling. The duo made a name for themselves in TNA Wrestling and won countless Tag Titles all over the world. The Machine Guns' contract with TNA expired recently. The tag team has had huge interest from WWE and AEW. Tony Khan has also been very vocal about signing Shelley and Sabin to the Jacksonville-based promotion.
In a recent report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was stated that The Motor City Machine Guns are heading to the Stamford-based promotion as the company has made them a better offer as opposed to All Elite Wrestling.
"Despite an offer from AEW, the Motor City Machine Guns are now expected to sign with WWE after the company made them a 'better offer.'" - WON
Alex Shelly and Chris Sabin recently competed against each other in a singles match at Prestige Wrestling which also seemed to be their final appearance on the Independent Circuit.
EC3 praises rumored WWE signing Motor City Machine Guns
The Motor City Machine Guns are reportedly WWE-bound and many have reacted to the news including EC3. Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, EC3 praised Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley and stated that the duo has a lot left in the tank. The NWA Worlds Champion also recalled watching the tag team during their early TNA days.
"Both great dudes. Even though they are slightly older than me, they got started so much earlier it seems, where they were on TV when I was probably still, I wouldn't say I was in the backyard but was probably not a trained professional wrestler at the time. Been watching them from early TNA days. Ya they are great... There is probably plenty of juice or gas left in their tanks."
The Motor City Machine Guns have a lot of dream matches that they can have in the Stamford-based promotion under Triple H's regime. It will be interesting to see if they start on the main roster or have a run in NXT.
