Potential reason why The Lucha Bros are planning to leave AEW this year - Reports

The Lucha Bros are seemingly set to exit AEW after their contract expires this year. A report might have revealed why they are leaving the Tony Khan-led promotion.

Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix have been associated with the Jacksonville-based promotion for five years at this point. The team has wrestled in some of the company's classic matches. The athletic duo also captured the AEW World Tag Team Championship back in September 2021 and held the belts for 122 days.

The duo has not featured in tag team action on Dynamite for almost a year. Nevertheless, the trio of Penta El Zero Miedo, Fenix, and Pac, called the Death Triangle had been featured on multiple shows recently. A few months ago, it was reported that Penta's contract was set to expire in August or September this year and that he was open to joining WWE.

A recent report claimed that the Lucha Bros are set to join WWE after their contract expires. Additionally, Ibou, a prominent journalist from Wrestlepurists noted that the duo leaving AEW is nobody's fault. They are potentially exiting the company and reasoned their departure to be a 'business' decision.

It remains to be seen whether the Lucha Bros will join WWE somewhere down the line.

WWE Superstar Gunther reveals that chop from AEW star Penta El Zero Miedo made him bleed

World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is one of the hardest-hitting wrestlers and is known for his stiff chops.

While speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Gunther revealed that AEW star Penta El Zero Miedo delivered a chop to him during their match and he started bleeding.

"I was shocked one time – I remember I wrestled in Germany back then. I was wrestling Pentagon, actually, and I chopped him, and he chopped me once, and I was bleeding right away. It was like, 'What? What is going on?' Some of the Mexican colleagues are gonna say they chop like it's, the movement is a little bit like it's a whip, if that makes sense. It's because they chop from overhand, and most of them do. That is painful, I gotta say," Gunther said.

It will be interesting to see how well the Lucha Bros be booked if they jump ship to WWE.
