Recently departed former WWE name open to a blockbuster AEW return - Reports
It has just been reported that a former WWE name could return to AEW after recently stepping away. This could result in something like a short break from the company rather than a full departure.
Last year, Jimmy Jacobs signed with All Elite Wrestling as part of the creative team and as a producer. The veteran was known for his time with ROH and the independent circuit spanning more than two decades. He was also a writer for both WWE and TNA before eventually making his way to the Jacksonville-based promotion. He departed the company a few days ago, with reports indicating that he had essentially resigned.
It was reported that Jimmy Jacobs had left AEW due to burnout issues. In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer added to this by saying sources close to Jacobs mentioned that he could return to the promotion sometime in the future.
Meltzer noted that the company had no issues with his work performance. One person close to the veteran mentioned how Jacobs was doing well. Meltzer claimed that he could return to the promotion once he is in a more stable position after recuperating from the burnout.
The former AEW name made his return to the independent circuit
Shortly after his sudden departure from AEW, Jimmy Jacobs made a brief appearance on the independent circuit, interfering in a major match.
Last weekend, he arrived at XICW Detroit and got involved in the three-way match between Adam Wick, MM3, and Trey Miguel for the Midwest Championship. He ended up hitting MM3 with a steel chair, which would cost him the match and help Adam Wick become the new champion.
This may not be Jimmy Jacobs' last appearance on the independent circuit now that he has not signed with any major company. It remains to be seen whether he'll continue this or eventually return to a much bigger role.
