Another released WWE Superstar reportedly signs with Tony Khan's AEW
AEW President Tony Khan has reportedly snapped up yet another former WWE Superstar in the form of Josh Woods.
Woods, also known as Preston Cunningham Jr. in NXT, left WWE in 2016 and has since honed his craft with Ring of Honor and other promotions. He won the prestigious Top Prospect Tournament during his time with ROH.
According to Fightful Select, Woods, a former ROH Pure Champion, has signed a tiered AEW contract. The report also noted that Khan signed Woods to the deal roughly a month ago.
Woods' contract seems to be similar to that of Rush, as no "All Elite" graphic has been made for either star, so they aren't exclusively signed with AEW.
What does the future hold for Josh Woods? Only time will tell!
Tony Khan has sporadically used Josh Woods in AEW so far
Josh Woods was the reigning ROH Pure Champion when Khan purchased Ring of Honor. Since then, Khan has booked him a few times. In addition to facing Daniel Garcia and Shawn Spears on AEW Dark, Woods received a rematch with Wheeler Yuta after the latter beat him for the title.
Woods was unsuccessful in regaining his championship and has since aligned himself with Tony Nese and Mark Sterling. He attacked Keith Lee backstage before Nese blindsided Swerve Strickland on the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite.
