Shane McMahon held AEW talks with former WWE Superstar - Reports
Shane McMahon recently had talks about AEW with a former WWE Superstar, according to a new report. The talent in question is none other than Mercedes Mone.
Shane-O-Mac has been the talk of the town in the wrestling world in recent weeks after veteran announcer Jim Ross discussed the possibility of the former WWE figure joining the Jacksonville-based promotion. JR's co-host, Conrad Thompson, claimed that McMahon had reached out to AEW talent to hypothetically discuss the topic of his arrival in the company.
Several reports have emerged since then regarding Shane, one of which asserted that McMahon is not under any kind of contract with WWE. The possibility of the 54-year-old star signing with AEW was recently addressed by Tony Khan himself, who revealed that he was open to welcoming McMahon in his company. Now, on the heels of Forbidden Door 2024, The Boy Wonder was seen interacting with a top AEW star.
A new report from PWInsider claims that Shane McMahon was spotted conversing with Mercedes Mone at Laguardia Airport in New York City on the morning of July 1, 2024. The two stars were reportedly seen talking to each other while on the way to catch their respective flights.
Furthermore, the report cites a source's claim that McMahon and The CEO had supposedly engaged in a conversation about All Elite Wrestling. However, the former WWE executive had reportedly not been present backstage at Forbidden Door 2024 despite living in New York City. The third edition of the annual cross-over pay-per-view emanated from the UBS Arena this year on June 30.
Mone had a successful outing at Forbidden Door, becoming a double champion after defeating Stephanie Vaquer. Although she now holds both the TBS and the NJPW Strong Women's Championships, Mone may have a target on her back, as she was confronted by a returning Britt Baker while celebrating her win.
