Tony Khan allegedly wanted Drew McIntyre to face top star if he signed with AEW - Reports

A recent report suggested that AEW President Tony Khan had an idea of former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre taking on a top AEW star. Meanwhile, Drew had re-signed with the Stamford-based promotion.

The top star is former AEW World Champion 'Hangman' Adam Page. Earlier this year, there were speculations that Drew McIntyre could go All Elite as his WWE contract was set to expire. However, it didn't turn out to be the case as The Scottish Warrior officially re-signed a multi-year deal with the Stamford-based promotion.

Meanwhile, a recent report suggested the creative plans Tony Khan apparently had for Drew McIntyre if he signed with AEW earlier this year. Through X (fka Twitter), Ibou of WrestlePurists reported, while replying to a fan, that Khan wanted to sign McIntyre and wanted him to have a match against 'Hangman' Page.

Drew has been having the run of his lifetime in 2024, as his amazing heel work has been heavily praised by everyone. Furthermore, his feud with CM Punk, which seemingly concluded in a brutal Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood, has been touted as one of the greatest in years.
