Top AEW stars heading to WWE; makes a big demand to the company - Reports
WWE and AEW fans are buzzing once again over the news of top stars jumping ship between the two companies. Triple H and his crew are rumored to sign two multi-time All Elite Wrestling champions, but sources have revealed new information on a major swerve involved with the deal.
The Lucha Bros are reportedly headed to World Wrestling Entertainment. Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix have been rumored to leave AEW for WWE later this year after it was revealed that their current contracts are set to expire between August and September. A new report from Fightful Select adds that the duo has told many people that Penta's deal is up first, likely this month, and that Fenix's contract will expire around September.
Tony Khan has wanted to re-sign the one-time World Tag Team Champions, but sources report that Fenix and Penta kept delaying the process. In recent weeks it became clear to AEW officials that the Death Triangle members were not looking to re-sign, which was cemented by a cryptic message sent out by Konnan.
Fightful Select notes that Penta and Fenix likely going to WWE. However, both stars are looking to sign with the company as a package deal and they do not want to go to NXT.
The latest backstage update from Fightful confirmed that the Stamford-based company has had internal talks about bringing them in. There's been talk that a similar offer to what AEW made is on the table from WWE, but that was not confirmed given their contract status.
It remains to be seen if officials will immediately put Fenix and Pentagon on the main roster. A source close to the tag team said it would not be surprising to see them in Orlando at the Performance Center to prepare for the jump sooner rather than later.
