Two AEW originals are expected to leave for WWE this year - Reports
Two AEW originals are expected to leave for WWE later this year. This has the potential to be a big blow for Tony Khan as he looks to catch up with the industry juggernaut.
The two stars are none other than Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix. The two brothers have been with AEW since its inception in 2019 and have had impressive careers there. They have held the tag titles and the trios titles together while Rey Fenix has also been the International Champion.
WrestlePurists has reported that the two brothers are expected to leave the company when their contracts expire between August and September of this year. The report also claims that their heading to WWE was now only a formality, according to some sources.
It will be interesting to see how they will be utilized in the Stamford-based promotion and what kind of push they could receive.
Lucha Bros filed for new trademarks amid WWE rumors
Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo are believed to be on their way out of AEW and they have not wasted any time in trying to make their presence felt in the wrestling world.
Amid news that they could be moving to the Stamford-based promotion, the two brothers have filed for new trademarks. They did that with the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Penta filed for the new terms Zero Miedo, AN1MO, and Cero Miedo.
Rey Fenix, on the other hand, filed for Fuego, Rey Fuego, and King Fuego. They also filed trademarks for their current names, Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix, in the months of May and June. While nothing is confirmed yet, it should not come as a surprise if they decide to move base.
A move to the other side could be beneficial for them, given WWE's history of working with and developing top stars from Mexico.
