Unexpected twist in Rey Fenix's AEW status and rumored WWE move - Reports
The Lucha Brothers, consisting of real-life brothers Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo, made their AEW debut in 2019. So far they have won the AEW World Tag Team Championship and the AEW World Trios Championship (with PAC). Furthermore, Fenix is a former AEW International Champion.
A few weeks back, it was reported that the duo were leaving All Elite Wrestling after their contracts expired. Furthermore, it was heavily rumored that they were WWE-bound. However, there has been an interesting development in this story. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company is adding injury time to Fenix’s contract to extend it by almost one year.
Tony Khan reportedly offered the duo lucrative deals to extend their stay with the company, however, they didn't sign it. Fans will hopefully get an update on the situation in the coming days.
Fenix won the AEW International Championship at Dynamite: Grand Slam 2023 by defeating Jon Moxley in a singles match. Unfortunately, his reign was short-lived because he lost it to Orange Cassidy a few days later.
Booker T is a fan of Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo and wants to see them on the main roster
A few weeks back on The Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T candidly spoke about Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo and revealed that he was a huge fan of the duo. Furthermore, stated that he wanted to see them on the WWE main roster because they are very talented.
"I love it! (On Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo to WWE rumors) Bring the Lucha Brothers in. Put them on the main roster. You can let them cut through NXT and stuff. Those guys are extraordinary talent. Give them a chance," said Booker T. [45:49 - 45:59]
When the Lucha Brothers eventually sign for WWE, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
