Unfortunate update on Eddie Kingston's AEW return - Reports

Eddie Kingston has been absent from AEW TV for a while due to an injury. An unfortunate update has come to light regarding his return.

Kingston has become one of the most beloved superstars on the AEW roster. He was riding a huge wave of success at the beginning of the year and, at one point, held the AEW Continental Championship, ROH World Championship, and NJPW Strong Openweight Championship simultaneously. However, Kingston's run came to an abrupt halt earlier this year.

At NJPW Strong Resurgence 2024, Eddie Kingston defended his Openweight Championship against Gabe Kidd. During the match, The Mad King took a suplex through a table that was set up between the ring and the guardrail which resulted in his legs slamming against the guardrail causing him to suffer a significant injury. Since then, he has been out of action.

According to reports from PWInsider, the former Continental Champion has been pushing himself through physical therapy and is trying to return to the ring as soon as possible. However, it is also reported that Kingston has been warned by his doctors that he may not be able to make his in-ring return until June 2025.

Eddie Kingston's injury turned out to be more severe than expected

When Eddie Kingston first injured himself back in May, it was thought that it was just a leg injury and the former ROH World Champion would be back in the ring after a few months of healing. However, that didn't turn out to be the case for the AEW star.

According to previous reports from Fightful Select, Kingston tore his ACL and meniscus and required surgery. It was further reported that he would be out of the ring until spring or summer of 2025 which lines up with PWInsider's report.

We hope that The Mad King recovers completely and returns to the ring before the anticipated timeline.
