Unfortunate update on Keith Lee's AEW status - Reports
Keith Lee hasn't been seen on AEW TV for a while now. New details have come to light regarding his status with the company.
Lee is widely regarded as one of the best big men in the business. Despite his massive size, The Limitless One is quick enough to move around like a high flyer. At one point in his WWE run, he was riding high as he held both the NXT and North American championships.
The 40-year-old's run on the main roster left fans wanting more. To add to this, Lee also suffered his fair share of health issues. Lee started his run in the Jacksonville-based promotion on a positive note but soon found himself on the sidelines for undisclosed medical reasons.
The Limitless One was supposed to face Swerve Strickland at AEW Worlds End last year but was pulled from the match due to his health issues. It's going to be a year since he last competed in the ring, with his previous match taking place on the December 23, 2023, episode of Collision, where he faced Brian Cage.
On a recent edition of Fightful Select's Q&A Podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about Lee's current status. Sapp mentioned that he had not heard anything about his status recently. He added that Lee had not returned to in-ring action because he was previously not cleared to compete.
“The last time I asked was early fall, and he was not clear, unfortunately. It’s not any other situation except for him not being cleared.” [H/T: Ringside News]
Keith Lee penned a heartfelt message for fans amid his absence
Keith Lee has managed to amass a loyal fanbase over the years. He has established himself as one of the top stars in the industry. Hence, fans were eager to see what he would accomplish in AEW. However, his run had to be put on the back burner due to his medical issues. Nevertheless, viewers are still waiting to see him make his highly anticipated return to the ring.
Several supporters have gone as far as to send personal messages to the former WWE star wishing him good health. As a result, The Limitless One took to X/Twitter to send a heartfelt message to fans thanking them for their support.
"I certainly don't see them all, but I have seen many. I must take the time to say thank you. And I must take the time to tell you.... we are not done. Hang in there, just like I am. Whatever it is.... the time will come. Let's move forward. Oh. And don't forget to go vote," Lee posted.
