Update on Hangman Adam Page's AEW return - Reports
AEW is missing several of its top stars, but perhaps none have left a greater void than 'Hangman' Adam Page. The promotion's resident cowboy has been out of action for several months and is expected back soon, but a new report suggests that fans shouldn't expect him back on TV just yet.
Hangman is a foundational star for the Jacksonville-based promotion – a founding member, a former World Champion, and one of the primary players in building the company and its fanbase. In fact, many fans still see the 32-year-old as the 'main character' of AEW, despite his heel turn earlier this year and his long absence.
Page hasn't been seen since tapping out to Samoa Joe at Revolution back in March. He'd turned to villainy shortly before that, and The Young Bucks suspended their former partner the week after the pay-per-view.
Recent reports have indicated that Hangman Page is set to return soon, but according to Fightful Select, he's not currently expected to appear on this week's episode of Dynamite.
It seems unlikely that Page will wrestle at Forbidden Door on June 30, but many fans have predicted that he will enter the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, the winner of which will headline All In at Wembley Stadium for the AEW World Championship.
Swerve Strickland isn't happy about Hangman Adam Page's imminent return
The primary reason for Adam Page's current absence is AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland, and the champ is less than thrilled that his greatest rival could be back in action soon.
Hangman and Swerve were locked in a bitter and violent blood feud throughout the waning months of 2023, and it came back to haunt Strickland in the build to Revolution 2024. Page even attempted to sabotage his own shot at the AEW World Championship to deny his enemy a chance to win the gold.
Unfortunately for the cowboy, Swerve Strickland ultimately got his hands on the title at Dynasty and is currently the reigning World Champion. With the prospect of Page returning and potentially entering the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, which would give him another shot at Swerve and the title at All In, Strickland made his feelings known on X/Twitter:
It's unclear when Adam Page will make his long-awaited comeback, but with the Batman-Joker rivalry between himself and Swerve still unfinished, it's almost certain that fans will see more drama erupt between them in the near future.
