WWE tried to counter AEW by making "tremendous offer" to popular star - Reports
WWE recently signed major free agent Stephanie Vaquer who was on the radar of AEW. According to recent reports, the Triple H-led company made a counteroffer to the female star after being aware of AEW's interest.
Stephanie Vaquer has been the talk of the town ever since she left CMLL. She reportedly has upset AEW after accepting the Stamford-based promotion's offer. WWE NXT's Head Shawn Michaels broke the news of Stephanie officially signing with the company and welcomed her to the White and Gold brand.
According to a recent report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Stephanie Vaquer didn't consider AEW's offer before inking a deal with WWE.
"Several sources said that Stephanie Vaquer didn’t seriously consider AEW. One person in WWE also claimed that they offered Vaquer a “tremendous contract” because they were aware of AEW’s offer." [H/T: RingsideNews]
Konnan believes Stephanie Vaquer got good advice before deciding to sign with WWE
Stephanie Vaquer wrestled at the Forbidden Door PPV in Tony Khan's promotion against Mercedes Mone however she shocked the world by inking a deal with the Stamford-based promotion just a couple of days later. The decision reportedly upset many including NJPW, CMLL, and AEW.
Speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, WCW veteran Konnan claimed that somebody gave Stephanie great advice before she made her deal official with the Stamford-based promotion.
"Well, here's the thing, and I don't know how much she [Stephanie Vaquer] followed AEW, I am thinking you don't--you can't get AEW in Mexico I believe. I think you have to like watch it on YouTube, I am thinking somebody gave her very good advice. So let's look at the facts okay?"
The former CMLL star is set to begin her career on NXT. It will be interesting to see if Stephanie is directly put into the main event scene or if she will have to earn her way up the card.
