Stipulation-free match; former champion looks weak?- 4 Mistakes AEW has already made ahead of Full Gear 2024
AEW Full Gear is right around the corner, and the card is stacked. From celebrity appearances to in-ring debuts, it looks like things are all set for the big event.
There is a lot of excitement about the show, and rightfully so. The fans are braced for what is going to be a great event. However, Tony Khan might have made a few mistakes ahead of one of his biggest shows of the year.
In this article, we will take a look at four such mistakes that AEW has already made ahead of Full 2024.
#4. No proper build-up for Bobby Lashley’s first AEW match
Bobby Lashley made his debut at Fright Night Dynamite on October 30 and has since joined The Hurt Syndicate along with MVP and Shelton Benjamin. He recently accepted a challenge from Swerve Strickland for a match at Full Gear pay-per-view.
However, there is one problem. For someone of the stature of The All Mighty, there is hardly any build-up for his first match in the company, and it feels forced. A proper build-up with a storyline would have been great for the former WWE star.
#3. No strong challengers for Jon Moxley & group
Jon Moxley and his faction have taken AEW by storm and have inserted themselves as the most dominant group in the company. And it seems like they want to stop at nothing. However, for all the dominance, apart from Jon Moxley, the others don't have a match at Full Gear.
Moxley will be putting his AEW World Championship on the line against Orange Cassidy in a match that also seemed rushed. A group as dominant as The Death Riders would have been better served if they had credible challengers.
#2. No stipulation for Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher
The one match that will have everyone’s attention is the bout between Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher. The relationship between the two former best friends has gone south, and things are about to standstill at Full Gear.
Given their storied history, it is surprising that their match will not have any stipulation and will be just a singles match.
#1. Celebrity match on the pre-show
QT Marshall will be tasked with taking on "Big Boom!" A.J. on the pre-show, and this match is one that no one expected. Big Boom is a social media influencer known as the Costco Guy. However, putting him in a match is a big ask.
QT Marshall is undoubtedly a talented wrestler and will be tasked with carrying this match. Tony Khan could have used QT Marshall in a different match rather than relegating him to wrestle on the pre-show with a celebrity.
