Surprise opponent revealed, heel turn? - 3 surprises Tony Khan could pull off on AEW Dynamite this week
Since the inception of AEW Dynamite, the show has managed to offer its fans a plethora of memorable moments. These include debuts, returns, matches, announcements, backstage segments, and more.
All Elite Wrestling is currently gearing up for All In 2024, which is scheduled to take place on August 25, 2024, at Wembley Stadium, in London, England. Five matches have been announced for the pay-per-view so far. They are as follows:
- "Timeless" Toni Storm (c) (with Luther) vs. "The Glamour" Mariah May [Singles match for the AEW Women's World Championship]
- Jack Perry (c) vs. Darby Allin [Singles match for the AEW TNT Championship]
- Mercedes Moné (c) (with Kamille) vs. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. [Singles match for the AEW TBS Championship]
- Swerve Strickland (c) (with Prince Nana) vs. Bryan Danielson [Title vs. Career match for the AEW World Championship: Danielson will never wrestle again if he loses]
- MJF (c) vs. Will Ospreay [Singles match for the AEW American Championship]
Only three weeks are left for All In, and not too many editions of Dynamite remain till the massive show. There will certainly be more matches for the pay-per-view event, which will eventually be announced in the coming weeks.
Interestingly, Tony Khan might have a few surprises in store for fans in the upcoming episode of Dynamite which will take place in North Carolina at the LJVM Coliseum. Let's take a look at some of the possibilities.
#3 Don Callis betrays Kyle Fletcher against MJF
The Don Callis Family consists of Don Callis (leader), Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, Trent Beretta, and Kyle Fletcher. Interestingly, former AEW International Champion, Will Ospreay was a member of this stable. However, he left the group earlier this year.
Long-term fans of the Jacksonville-based promotion are aware of Fletcher and Ospreay's friendship. The former is set to lock horns with American Champion, MJF in a non-title match in the upcoming episode of Dynamite. If Fletcher manages to win by pinfall or submission, he will get a rematch against Friedman in next week's Dynamite with the title on the line.
Interestingly, Don Callis could spoil Fletcher's party by instructing the rest of the Don Callis Family to attack the Australian wrestler. This could give birth to a new rivalry and even let Fletcher have a match at All In.
# 2 The Acclaimed might officially turn heel
In the last episode of Collision, The Acclaimed almost got into an ugly brawl with FTR after the latter's Eight-Man Tag Match. Fortunately, due to Mark Briscoe's intervention, the situation didn't spin out of control. Both tag teams reportedly want a World Tag Team Championship match against current title holders, The Young Bucks.
FTR even offered a handshake to Anthony Bowens and Max Caster, however, the duo didn't accept it. The Acclaimed has been hinting at turning heel for a while and it looks like they could finally accept their dark side in the upcoming episode of Dynamite.
#1 Saraya’s All In opponent announcement
A few days back former Women's World Champion, Saraya made it clear that she will wrestle at All In 2024, however, there has not been an official announcement on this yet. She has also teased a new look in her Instagram stories.
Fans have been speculating on whether the returning Jamie Hayter could be her surprise opponent at the London event. An update on the situation will most likely be revealed in the upcoming episode of Dynamite.
