The saviour of AEW returns soon and Tony Khan can't afford to make any mistakes
Ever since its establishment, AEW has emerged as a genuine competitor to the WWE. During its early years, everything was clicking for the promotion. Not only did Tony Khan book his roster well, but he also signed several former WWE stars. Dynamite was almost unmissable and TV ratings were incredible.
Unfortunately, 2024 has not been a pleasant year for All Elite Wrestling. Many of their top names were or are still sidelined due to injury. Furthermore, due to dwindling ratings and bizarre booking decisions, Khan and his company have been facing a lot of criticism. Thankfully, AEW's savior Kenny Omega will return soon. And when he does, he has to be booked like he is invincible.
Why is Kenny Omega AEW's savior?
Long-term fans of professional wrestling are well aware of Kenny Omega's in-ring skills and abilities on the microphone. Before signing with AEW, The Best Bout Machine was a NJPW star. Furthermore, he regularly wrestled on the independent circuit.
In the Japanese promotion, he has won top titles like the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, and more. He is a former AEW World Champion and the company's first and only Triple Crown Champion. Very few wrestlers can deliver stellar matches consistently, and he is undoubtedly one of them.
All Elite Wrestling is currently in a rut and upon returning, Kenny Omega should be trusted to take the company back to its glory days. He is an All Elite Wrestling original and their savior.
How should Tony Khan book Kenny Omega?
Tony Khan needs to book Kenny Omega similar to how WWE has been booking Roman Reigns since 2020. The Original Tribal Chief is the biggest name in the world of professional wrestling right now. This is predominantly because of strong booking and making him a part of captivating storylines.
Tony Khan needs to apply the same formula for the former AEW World Champion. He needs to book Omega as a force to be reckoned with and almost make him supernaturally strong. This way, the 41-year-old will be seen as a legitimate threat and can be portrayed as the face of the promotion for years to come.
Kenny Omega will wrestle at Wrestle Dynasty
Kenny Omega's first match upon his return is against NJPW star Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty. Apart from this showdown, the pay-per-view will feature anticipated matches such as Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa for the Strong Women's Championship, Shingo Takagi (c) or Konosuke Takeshita vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the NEVER Openweight Championship and more.
Wrestle Dynasty will take place at the Tokyo Dome on January 5, 2025. This event is a collaboration between NJPW, AEW, CMLL, ROH, and Stardom.
