There's only one man who deserves to dethrone Jon Moxley as the AEW World Champion
Jon Moxley became the AEW World Champion after defeating Bryan Danielson at WrestleDream on October 12, 2024. After securing the gold, he started a hostile takeover of the company, wreaking havoc on television.
Moxley has openly declared war against Tony Khan because he's not satisfied with the AEW CEO's work. The company's stars have been forced to pick sides, and the ones who are trying to oppose the Blackpool Combat Club leader are being targeted by his teammates.
The AEW locker room is currently dealing with a lot of darkness that has ensued because of Jon Moxley becoming the World Champion, but Eddie Kingston has the potential to become the light at the end of the tunnel. He could even dethrone Moxley as the World Champion.
Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston have a long history
Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston have known each other for a long time. They used to roll together during their time on the independent circuit until The Lunatic Fringe joined WWE.
They later reunited in AEW, where they started as rivals but they turned into tag team partners. After knowing The Purveyor of Violence for so long, The Mad King is familiar with his thinking process. Hence, Kingston could use this to take down Moxley.
Great return story for Eddie Kingston
In May, Kingston took on Gabe Kidd at Resurgence. During their No Ropes Last Man Standing match for the Strong Openweight Championship, The Mad King suffered a broken leg, torn ACL, and torn meniscus, which put him on the shelf. He is expected to be back in mid-2025.
Once he returns, he could take on Moxley, challenging him for the AEW World Championship. With some help, he could even defeat him to win the title, as he has already beaten him at AEW Worlds End on December 30, 2023.
Eddie Kingston could be the next top babyface that loves AEW
Jon Moxley is currently the top heel in AEW. Some stars are trying to oppose him, but none have been able to take him down. Given their history, The Mad King could be the one who could challenge The Purveyor of Violence. Kingston has all the qualities of being the top babyface in the company.
When Kingston joined AEW, he played the role of a heel, but following his feud with Moxley, he turned babyface, which wrestling fans loved. The former ROH World Champion becoming the top babyface could once again draw a similar reaction from fans. He could even end Moxley's reign of terror in All Elite Wrestling.
