Tony Khan to officially suspend top AEW star over his actions on this week's Dynamite? Exploring the chances
For years, there have been claims that Tony Khan allows the inmates to run the asylum meaning that the wrestlers have been in charge of AEW instead of the person who signs the cheques. These claims couldn't be more true in recent weeks as the company has come under attack by a group whose leader was once hailed as the face of the promotion.
A couple of months ago, Jon Moxley claimed that this is "not your company anymore" indicating that he was addressing Tony Khan. However, what followed next no one could've predicted as Moxley betrayed Bryan Danielson at AEW All Out and choked him out with a plastic bag.
The Purveyor of Violence defeated The American Dragon to win the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream 2024, where the real terror began. In the weeks that followed, Mox attacked several members of the roster and even stated that he hated what the company had become. Hence, he waged war on anyone who was on AEW's side.
Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy faced off against Claudio Castagnoli and PAC on Dynamite last Wednesday. However, Mox showed up and ambushed Allin and Cassidy, resulting in a no-contest.
With all that's going on in the company, it's high time that Khan put his foot down. With the EVPs gone for the time being, it's up to Tony to take matters into his own hands and finally suspend Moxley, which could put a temporary halt to his plans. Even Dustin Rhodes recently stated that TK must be upset with Mox saying that AEW "isn't his company." The only reprieve for Tony and his promotion is to suspend Mox and his group.
Darby Allin has a gameplan for Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite
Two stars who have been leading the charge against Jon Moxley and The Death Riders are Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy. These two men are considered the foundation stones of the company and hence won't sit quiet while the promotion is under siege.
Last week on Dynamite, Darby and Cassidy's match was disrupted by Mox and Marina Shafir. Thankfully, they were rescued by The Conglomeration before anything bad happened to them. Despite this, Darby is not done with the AEW World Champion.
During a recent appearance on Chaz & AJ on 99.1 PLR, Darby Allin revealed that he doesn't have a match on Dynamite this week but still has something unpredictable planned for Moxley.
“Well, I don’t have a match, but I got a gameplan. The thing with me, I think anybody knows this that watches by now, it’s completely unpredictable every week what I’m gonna do out there, and I got a pretty good gameplan for Mr. Jon Moxley and company. Can’t spoil it," said the former TNT Champion. [H/T - Fightful]
It will be interesting to see whether Tony Khan will finally punish The Death Riders for their recent actions.
