Tony Khan to suspend former WWE star for controversial incident outside AEW? Exploring the possibility
A former WWE Superstar could face repercussions for her recent actions outside of AEW. The star being discussed is Mercedes Mone. She is the reigning TBS and NJPW Strong Women's Champion and is scheduled to face Britt Baker at All In.
The DMD was absent from the Jacksonville-based promotion for almost 10 months after she reportedly was dealing with some health issues since September 2023. She returned to the company at the Forbidden Door Pay-Per-View after nine months of absence. She interrupted Mercedes' celebration when she won the NJPW Strong Women's Championship. The CEO hasn't been on good terms with Britt since then.
The TBS Champion also laid out an open challenge for the title a couple of weeks ago on Dynamite but banned Britt Baker from accepting the same. Further, she continued her schtick of '#AnyonebutBritt' in order to avoid the latter. However, things changed at the recent Comic Con event held in San Diego.
While several AEW stars were present on the Comic Con panel, Britt and Mercedes exchanged some words and later tried to lay hands on each other. Responding to the events, Tony Khan made their match official for All In. Following the announcement, someone backstage was trying to get a word from the The CEO. However, the furious Mercedes kicked them down.
Tony Khan could easily suspend The CEO until All In for her actions at the event for being violent. He could even force her to relinquish one of her two belts as a punishment. What action the AEW President takes next will be something the fans are waiting to see.
Mercedes Mone brings a top star in AEW as her ally
On the recent edition of Dynamite, Britt Baker was attacked by Kamille on behalf of Mercedes. The former NWA Women's World Champion was reportedly signed to the promotion in February and was featured on TV.
While there were some reports of the star being disgruntled with not getting to perform live on AEW TV, her actions last week have shown that the wait could be fruitful: Her first appearance was power-packed indeed and the fans want to see more of the star.
It will be interesting to see what is next for Mercedes Mone and Kamille as the former is going to All In to face Britt.
