Top AEW star to deal a blow to Kenny Omega following his in-ring return after 396 days? Looking at the chances
A current champion in AEW could go after former world champion Kenny Omega right after the latter's in-ring return after more than a year. The Cleaner is set to return to the squared circle at a major upcoming event.
Kenny Omega has been out of action since last year. After his last match against Ethan Page on the December 5, 2023, edition of AEW Collision, The Best Bout Machine was diagnosed with diverticulitis and had to be on the shelf for months.
Nonetheless, the 41-year-old is set for his in-ring return. It was recently made official that Omega will take on Gabe Kidd at the Wrestle Dynasty PPV on January 5, 2025, at the Tokyo Dome. This will mark Omega's return to the squared circle after 396 days. However, Kenny could be attacked by reigning Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada at the event.
The Rainmaker replaced The Cleaner in The Elite earlier this year, and the two have a lot of history since their days in NJPW. Furthermore, it was recently reported that Omega was slated to feud with Okada earlier this year. Assuming The Best Bout Machine wins his first in-ring battle upon his return, the former world champion could get attacked by Kazuchika Okada after the match.
With The Elite member potentially showing up and attacking Omega, the two could revisit their iconic rivalry, this time in AEW. The feud could lead to some incredible matches considering their past encounters. However, this is speculative at this point.
Kenny Omega receives a message from a popular star
As mentioned earlier, Kenny Omega will lock horns with popular NJPW star Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty 2025. In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Kidd sent a message to The Cleaner, calling the former AEW World Champion ''a pathetic weak man!''
"He can do what he wants. He can say what he wants. The fact is [that] he’s a pathetic weak man. That’s the reality of the situation. You’re a pathetic man. It’s easy to say that stuff when you’re not fighting every week and away from everything you care about. Don’t talk to me about anything. You used to be great. Now you’re lunch for me!" he said.
It will be interesting to see what transpires when Kenny Omega and Gabe Kidd square off next month.
