What happened to AEW star Roderick Strong's parents? Revisiting the devastating incident
Moments ago on AEW Dynamite, a few incidents from Roderick Strong's past were brought up, including some unfortunate history regarding his parents. But just what happened all those years ago?
Earlier tonight, MJF brought up a little history about Strong. He mentioned how growing up, he had to deal with a lot. He lived in trailer parks, had to deal with his parents' alcohol and drug addiction, and even witnessed an unfortunate shooting incident involving his parents. He claimed that the former WWE Superstar's trauma pushed him to look for safety from Adam Cole and his friends.
Roderick Strong has been quite open to talking about his childhood and the unfortunate events that had transpired in the past. He has spoken about living in poverty, dealing with his parents' addiction, and even witnessing his mother shooting his father in front of him, which was fortunately non-fatal.
In an interview with Gabe Sapolsky a few years ago, he got emotional as he spoke about his rough childhood and how he could not believe how he was able to get through that and become someone people look up to now.
"Being a 12-year old that, like my mom shot my dad, like I grew up in trailer parks, like poor, my mother was a drug addict. Like just so much s**t and like, and like, people to look up to me and like, I wanna be like you, it's just crazy." [4:06-4:25]
Roderick Strong clapped back after MJF brought up his past
On tonight's edition of Dynamite, Roderick Strong issued a response after MJF brought up his unfortunate childhood. This weekend at Full Gear, both men will be facing off in a match, and this may have been Friedman playing mind games with his opponent.
The Messiah of the Backbreaker was unfazed about the comments regarding his childhood, as he had gotten used to hearing about this all his life. He noted that did not want sympathy as he had already learned how to move forward from this, and how he has had to earn the great things in his life.
It is safe to say that Roderick Strong has already come to terms with everything that's happened, and despite MJF's attempts at getting into his head, this may be all to naught. If anything, this may only fuel Strong to focus better ahead of their match.
