Who is Hologram in AEW?
AEW star Hologram has been the talk of the town since debuting in the promotion a couple of weeks ago. Despite the star's popularity, many are wondering about his identity. For weeks, he was teased to debut in the company.
Hologram made his AEW debut on July 20 in Collision. He defeated Gringo Loco and caught many eyes. In his second bout, which took place in the recent Collision episode, he defeated Beast Mortos in a highly athletic match. In reality, the masked athlete is a 25-year-old star named Aramis. His real name or other details are not public yet.
Billed from Coacalco de Berriozábal, Mexico, he is a rising star signed to the Jacksonville-based promotion since February 2024. Aramis made his pro wrestling debut in 2010 and was a top star in AAA, capturing multiple championships all around the world.
It is unclear if the Luchador will ever be unmasked on TV in the future.
Dave Meltzer provides details on Hologram
After his dynamic debut, the 25-year-old star has caused a stir in the wrestling community. AEW President Tony Khan apparently wanted to create this luchador star for years.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave revealed that Tony had the idea of Hologram for nearly five years but couldn't capitalize on it for an unknown reason.
"Tony Khan has had an idea for Aramis for probably five years, maybe four. For whatever reason, it never materialized, and now it has. In the interim, since he had this idea, we have had so many luchadores come through. Aramis is very good and his moves were good and everything, but to me it was like, I felt like, how's he any different from Komander? (...) Look, Tony Khan's wanted his luchador superhero with that gimmick for a long, long time," he said.
It will be interesting to see how the 25-year-old star will be booked in AEW in the future.
