Why MJF may not return to AEW alone
AEW star MJF is one of the most charismatic wrestlers on the company's roster. His character and in-ring performance have been growing since he signed with AEW, which eventually helped him capture the AEW World Championship.
Recently, Maxwell wrestled a match against Daniel Garcia at the All Out Pay-Per-View and defeated him in a thrilling match. Following the contest, the Dragon Slayer delivered a brutal second-rope piledriver to the former American Champion. Following the event, reports disclosed that MJF would be taking a hiatus from the promotion and was therefore written off TV.
When Friedman returns, could he return to reignite his feud with Adam Cole? For the major part of MJF's title reign, he was friends with the 35-year-old star. The duo held the ROH World Tag Team Championships together and even main-evented the 2023 All In London show for the AEW World Championship, where the champion retained.
However, things fell apart when Adam Cole revealed himself as the Devil at the Worlds End Pay-Per-View. Their rivalry could draw many eyes to the product as the duo have a lot of history together. Also, many reports claim that Cole was backstage at Dynamite in August, which could mean he is nearing full recovery. Therefore, there is a good chance that both Friedman and Cole make their returns together.
Adam Cole anonymously troubled MJF for months
While Adam Cole was injured and accompanied by Maxwell, the former conspired against him and formed a faction. Without revealing themselves, the Devil's henchmen tried to make his life difficult in every way possible.
At the World End event, after Samoa Joe defeated Friedman for the world championship, the 35-year-old star revealed himself as the Devil. His henchmen then put Maxwell on the shelf for nearly five months.
MJF attacked Adam Cole at Double or Nothing
After the Devil and its henchmen revealed themselves, their faction was named the Undisputed Kingdom. The faction didn't get as popular as it should have been. At Double or Nothing Pay-Per-View, Adam Cole returned to the Jacksonville-based promotion and got attacked by Maxwell.
While speaking in an interview later, the former AEW World Champion claimed that the 35-year-old star is dead and is gone from wrestling forever.
MJF needs a credible opponent
Since returning in May, Maxwell has had good feuds with Will Ospreay and Daniel Garcia. As of now, many other top stars are involved in other feuds or are sidelined due to injuries. Adam Cole's potential return to the promotion may help the former American Champion gain momentum.
Also, Cole was backstage on Dynamite in August, indicating he could be ready to return to the ring soon. It will be interesting to see how AEW would book their feud.
