Will Ospreay is an English professional wrestler best known for his work in NJPW, RevPro Wrestling, and his current promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Ospreay is widely considered to be one of the best in-ring performers in the world today and in wrestling history. His techniques and high-flying actions are considered to be one of the greatest. Ospreay’s full name is William Peter Charles Ospreay. He was born on May 7, 1993 in London, England. He had been a huge fan of professional wrestling since a very young age and dreamed of becoming a wrestler himself in 2005. That time, he watched a three-way match at TNA Unbreakable between Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels.

He won the New Japan Cup in 2021 and the Best of the Super Juniors contest in 2016 and 2019 at NJPW. Thunderbastard and Super Strong Style 16 in 2015 at Progress Wrestling. His move OsCutter was named Best Move of the Year in 2017 by ROH. Ospreay has Match of the Year accomplishments from ESPN, Impact Wrestling, New York Post, SoCal Uncensored, and Defiant Wrestling. The "Commonwealth Kingpin" has numerous other accolades from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter such as Best Flying Wrestler, Best Wrestling Maneuver, Most Outstanding Wrestler, Wrestler of the Year, Non-Heavyweight, Europe, and Japan MVP. Will Ospreay is not a Grand Slam Champion at his current promotion AEW. However, he is a former Grand Slam Champion at Revolution Pro Wrestling as he won Undisputed British Heavyweight, British Cruiserweight, and Undisputed British Tag Team Titles in that promotion.


Will Ospreay Pro Wrestling Journey

The former AEW International Champion began his career with backyard wrestling alongside his friend and future pro-wrestler Kip Sabian. Ospreay soon went to Lucha Britannia’s London Wrestling School. In 2012, he was signed by Progress Wrestling, where he soon became a major superstar.

He was contracted with the promotion for about seven years until 2019. While Ospreay has worked with many United Kingdom-based wrestling promotions, his most memorable work came at Revolution Pro Wrestling.

He first competed in RevPro in 2013 and was under contract up until 2024. Ospreay got international recognition for his work in New Japan Professional Wrestling.

It was at NJPW that Ospreay got into the debate of the greatest in-ring performers here. The English superstar consistently put on some of the best matches ever during his time here.

He made his NJPW debut in 2016 and wrestled last in 2024. Speaking of his wrestling career in the United States, Ospreay had an underwhelming stint with Ring of Honor from 2016 to 2018. However, Ospreay has had a great response in AEW where he signed full-time in 2024 and is currently a part of the AEW roster.
