World title quest; new enemies - 3 directions for Ricky Starks if he returns to AEW in 2024
Ricky Starks has been away from AEW for a long time now. His is a strange case as his career showed a lot of promise but for unknown reasons has petered out of late.
He has not been seen in the company ever since he and Big Bill lost their AEW Tag Team Titles to Sting and Darby Allin in February. Big Bill, to his credit, has come out on his own and joined Chris Jericho’s Learning Tree faction.
The same can't be said of Starks as he is still out of action and many fans are wondering what the issue could be. On top of that, there is speculation that he might be on his way to WWE soon. However, things could change should Tony Khan decide to bring him back.
In this article, we will examine three directions that Ricky Starks can take if he does come back to AEW this year.
#3. World title quest
Having been on the sidelines for a long time, Ricky Starks will be very hungry for gold when he comes back, and what better way to make an instant impact than to target the reigning AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley.
Moxley has been saying that there is no one on the AEW roster that can take the title away from him. This could serve as the perfect excuse for Tony Khan to bring in Starks and push him into the main event scene, showing that Moxley was wrong about his assessment of the young stars on the roster.
#2. Join forces with Daniel Garcia
Daniel Garcia has been in the crosshairs of Jon Moxley and co. and has been on the hunt for partners to take down the Blackpool Combat Club. He recently tried it with Orange Cassidy but to no avail.
If Ricky Starks comes back, then it will be the perfect time and place for Garcia to rope him in as they look to take on Moxley and company. With Starks in the group, Garcia will have an X factor and a potential edge over Moxley.
#1. Ricky Starks to join Blackpool Combat Club
The Blackpool Combat Club is a very fearsome group as they have laid waste to everyone in their path. They didn't even about their former partner Bryan Danielson and retired him from his full-time in-ring career at AEW WrestleDream.
Seeing all this domination, Ricky Starks might want to join Jon Moxley and his group to make sure that his return goes according to plan. Being on the same team as the former WWE star will ease his way back into the company and make sure that he is properly utilized in the Jacksonville-based promotion going forward.
