AFL Team News | Round 15: Fremantle names extended 26-man squad for Gold Coast clash, with Michael Walters ruled out due to a hamstring injury

Fremantle Dockers veteran forward Michael Walters will take no part in his side's Round 15 clash with the Gold Coast on Sunday. Walters picked up a hamstring injury in the club's 149- 82 loss to the Western Bulldogs on June 15 and will be out for at least three to four weeks.

Meanwhile, the Dockers are set to unleash a new face in the AFL as second-year player Hugh Davies is set for his debut against the Suns. Davies has been listed on-field for Sunday's clash at Optus Stadium.

A pick number 33 in the 2022 Natuonal draft, Davies has been a key figure in Fremantle's VFL side Peel Thunder. He has amassed 28 appearances for the Thunder and played a role in their run to the WAFL Grand Final last year.

The young key defender is tied to the Dockers until 2026, after signing a two-year contract extension toward the end of 2023. He will be hoping to make a positive impact in his first-ever AFL appearance.

Fremantle Dockers make three changes for Sunday's clash with Gold Coast

The Fremantle Dockers have made three changes to the side that will face Gold Coast Suns on Sunday, June 23 in the AFL Round 15.

Defender Corey Wagner has been named in coach Justin Longmuir's final 23 as a halfback for his first start of the season. His last appearance was in Round 12 against Melbourne, when he came off the bench in the last quarter, registering six marks and nine disposals.

Key defender Hugh Davies has been named in the backline for his AFL debut, while Heath Champman is back to the team after being taken off in the Dockers' Round 14 loss to Western Bulldogs with hamstring issues.

Brandon Walker is out of Sunday's clash with an illness, Joshua Draper has been omitted, and Michael Walters is also out with a hamstring. James Aish, Matthew Johnson, Jaeger O’Meara, Sam Sturt, and Karl Worner form Fremantle's five-man extended bench, with one player to be designated as the substitute an hour before the game begins.

Dockers will look to secure maximum points against Gold Coast with their position in the top eight hanging in the balance. They have 30 points from 13 games and are ninth in the standings.
