The AFL suspended Tarryn Thomas for 18 months in February after an investigation by the Integrity Unit found him guilty of inappropriate behavior towards a woman. He was then sacked by North Melbourne, who insisted they had tried to help him put an end to his behavioral issues, "but we've now arrived at a point where the individual's needs don't match those of the club."

In light of the new development in Thomas' case, the AFL has put out a statement that they would not consider any revision to his case until the police are done with their investigation and the court rules.

“The AFL is aware of today's developments in relation to Tarryn Thomas including that he has been charged with offences that are now before the Courts," the AFL said in a statement.
"The AFL cannot and will not make any comment in relation to those new charges while the police investigation is ongoing.
"The AFL will continue to monitor the police proceedings.”
