Former AFL star Rhys Mathieson undergoes insane body transformation, Collingwood's Dan McStay reacts on Instagram
Former AFL star Rhys Mathieson surprised fans with his remarkable body transformation. The ex-Brisbane Lions star uploaded pictures of his current look on Instagram, showing a completely different physique than the one they saw play for the Lions.
Known as "Beast Mode" among Aussie fans, Mathieson's new look clearly represents his moniker.
Delisted by the Brisbane Lions at the end of last season, Mathieson failed to break into the Lions’ first team, which led to his removal from the roster of the 2023 Grand Final losers.
Although he was not a stranger in the iron department during his days in the AFL, his current transformation shows more dedication in the gym and the sight is remarkable.
Another post on his Instagram shows that the 27-year-old has linked up with a nutrition and supplement brand named ATP Science. The post, which shows off Mathieson's new look, was captioned:
"Beast by name, beast by nature!".
Furthermore, a post by one of Mathieson's trainers reveals that the former Brisbane Lions star has added 10kg as part of his body transformation.
Reacting to Mathieson’s latest post on Instagram was Collingwood star Dan McStay, who was wowed by his former teammates' transformation.
"Fuarrrrr," McStay commented followed by a fire emoji.
What has Rhys Mathieson been up to since leaving the Brisbane Lions?
Rhys Mathieson was delisted by Brisbane Lions in 2023, but the 27-year-old is still active in the game of Aussie. After leaving the Lions, he signed for QAFL (Queensland Australian National Football League) side Wilston Grang Gorillas for the 2024 season.
Upon signing for the Gorillas, the club expressed excitement about having an experienced AFL star on their roster. After two QAFL games thus far, Wilston Grange Gorillas have recorded one win and a loss with Rhys Mathieson on their side.
Mathieson was drafted by the Brisbane Lions in 2015. He registered 29 kick goals in 72 AFL appearances for the club before his exit in 2023.
