Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir showers praise on young forward following milestone AFL game - "He’s a good product for us at the moment”

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir praised young forward Josh Treacy following his 50th milestone AFL game. In a 20-point win that put Fremantle in top-four contention, Treacy scored twice in a dominant display for the Dockers.

Speaking to the media post-match according to the club's official website, Longmuir said:

“I've admired his development because there were some things he needed to work on in his game to be that player for us and he’s worked his backside off.
“You love to see guys who are purposeful with the work they do, rep after rep, you love to see those guys succeed.
“He’s not the finished product, but he’s a good product for us at the moment. He’s going well.”

Treacy's goals came after spectacular contested marks in the first half. Statistics this season show him averaging 2.6 disposals more per game, 2.4 more marks and 1.1 more goals every game than in previous seasons.

The media interviewed Josh Treacy ahead of his 50th milestone game against the Gold Coast Suns on Friday and he said his confidence in himself and his abilities allowed him to play his best.

“It’s been a long time coming. I know it’s only been four years, but it’s been a lot of hard work,” Treacy said at the Friday afternoon media conference.
“A few lightbulbs moments and patience along the way to get here, obviously it’s only a little step but it’s something I will cherish.
“My confidence overall, being able to back myself in week in week out, having the staff, coaches and my teammates backing me in. That allows me to play at my best.”

The forward's two goals against the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday increased his tally this season to 28 goals.
