8 anime characters who will never skip a workout session
While most anime characters are often shown to have good physiques, they are never shown putting in the work to maintain them. Such characters often leave fans with an incorrect perception of how tough it is to build muscles or even stay in shape, to say the least.
With that in mind, here we shall be taking a look at some anime characters who are canonically known to work out. Moreover, the last thing they would do is intentionally skip a workout session.
Most of these anime characters are from Shonen series that contain fantastical elements. However, instead of sourcing the reason behind their physiques to their powers, these anime have maintained a sense of reality with their characters' desires to workout and become stronger.
Vegeta, Asta, and six other anime characters who will never skip a workout session
1) Superalloy Darkshine (One Punch Man)
As a child, Superalloy Darkshine was quite weak and lacked self-confidence. Fortunately, working out helped him develop confidence and become a better version of himself. He has now become so strong that his overarching muscles act as a pseudo-armor on their own and allow him to lift two tons with one arm alone.
In addition, his body is now capable of bouncing back any attack when it shines. While he has currently lost his confidence as a hero in the manga, he hasn't stopped working out. His determination to workout is so strong that even after he retired as a hero, he enlisted as a trainer at Neo Heroes, hoping to train himself and others.
2) Machio Naruzo (How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?)
Machio Naruzo from How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? is a bodybuilder and personal trainer at Silverman Gym. While on the outside he may seem like a lean person, he is very muscular and is known to flex his muscles at any given opportunity.
Speaking of workouts, Machio is very dedicated to maintaining his physique and helping his clients become a better version of themselves. His knowledge and expertise in bodybuilding and exercise are so over the top that he can get any person, no matter how disinterested in exercising, to try it once for themselves.
3) Kunigami Rensuke (Blue Lock)
Kunigami Rensuke from Blue Lock is one of the 300 strikers who was recruited to partake in the Blue Lock program. However, unlike other strikers who seemingly focused on being lean and fit, Kunigami Rensuke was focused on maintaining a strong physique with gym workouts. This is what helped him generate his strength for his long-range shots.
While he was already quite strong, the Wild Card program at Blue Lock took his obsession with maintaining a good physique a step further. This was quite evident when the manga showed him doing some leg workouts before the match against Paris X Gen.
4) Vegeta (Dragon Ball series)
As any Dragon Ball fan would know, Vegeta was obsessed with working out, hoping to surpass his rival Son Goku in strength. While working out itself was fine, Vegeta took it a step further by doing the same at higher gravitational levels, making the training far tougher than it had to be.
Vegeta's dedication to training was most evident after Frieza Saga when he was shown training in 100 times gravity despite being injured after his previous sessions. He might be the one anime character fans would suggest not to workout as there was no telling what he would destroy in the process.
5) Sung Jinwoo (Solo Leveling)
As fans would know, Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling was previously a very weak character due to the Rank he was assigned upon becoming a Hunter. However, after the System took over his life, he started working out daily.
While this was a mandatory daily task assigned by the System, Sung Jinwoo himself was determined to become strong and has even done more training than he was supposed to on one occasion. Therefore, unless he was too occupied by something, he never wanted to skip training. In fact, after missing the one time he did miss his daily task, he might never skip it again.
6) Asta (Black Clover)
Asta from Black Clover, similar to Sung Jinwoo, was very weak at the beginning. This was because he was born without any magic. However, instead of giving up on his dream of becoming the Wizard King, he started training, hoping that his strength would help him gain some magic.
While his strength training did not help him attain magic, it did help him garner his Demon Slayer Sword which was unreasonably heavy. In time, Asta has continued his training and has relied on it to become a capable Magic Knight.
7) Kamado Tanjiro (Demon Slayer)
As seen in Demon Slayer, Kamado Tanjiro was a very cheerful anime character who would always want to train. He wanted to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji and help his sister become a human being again. Thus, given their difference in strength, he was determined to train as much as he could, no matter how difficult the training was.
Tanjiro's determination to train was especially evident in the Hashira Training Arc. As fans may remember, the Demon Slayer was injured after his fight at the Swordsmith Village. Regardless, he turned in for training as soon as possible and went through them quicker than anyone else.
8) Mash Burnedead (MASHLE: Magic and Muscles)
Mash Burnedead, similar to Asta, is an anime character who was born magicless in a world where everyone possessed magic. However, instead of crying over his fate, Mash built up his strength with weight training.
While Asta was eventually granted the anti-magic swords, Mash Burnedead received no such powers and only made use of his muscles to humiliatingly defeat his opponents and pull off inhuman feats.
These were the anime characters we picked who would never skip a workout session. Do comment if we missed out on any.
