A new My Hero Academia movie could make or break the series with a key Deku plot
A new My Hero Academia movie holds the potential to either elevate the series or disrupt its carefully built narrative, particularly if it focuses on a key Deku plot. The franchise’s cinematic ventures have historically balanced thrilling action with meaningful character arcs. However, with the series' conclusion, any new installment faces heightened scrutiny.
Mostly content with its end, the fandom waits patiently for something new to engage with. In this case, the discussion centers on a new movie that could continue to honor My Hero Academia's themes of heroism, sacrifice, and teamwork in a way that resonates with its established legacy. However, there is a looming concern over how the movie might address Deku’s journey, given its emotional and thematic weight.
Crucial decisions regarding his abilities, relationships, and growth are pivotal, and any missteps could risk alienating audiences. With all eyes on the series' next steps, the upcoming My Hero Academia movie could determine the fate of Kohei Horikoshi's carefully crafted superhero verse.

My Hero Academia: A new movie holds the potential to make or break the series
The prospect of a new My Hero Academia movie does sound exciting. As mentioned, the franchise has a strong history in cinema, as seen with Heroes Rising, Two Heroes, and others. However, it is important to note that those films were released during the course of the manga. Now, after 10 years and 431 chapters, the story has come to a conclusion that has received a mostly positive response.
Anything beyond this must be carefully thought out and planned before execution. In this case, a new movie for the franchise could be the deciding factor that either makes or breaks what Horikoshi has intricately crafted. This is especially true if the plot centers around Deku and One For All (OFA). As seen, Deku ended the series Quirkless and with a new suit that made him a Hero again.
Having the green-haired boy receive OFA again in the movie would be unfavorable, as it would undermine everything that has happened so far. It would undercut the meaning of Deku being given the suit by Class 1-A. In a way, this new OFA allows him to live his dream of being a Hero. Bestowing him with the original power again might void the entire plot.
Concerns about the new armor
While many will agree with this, some feel otherwise. Those in disagreement argue that Horikoshi's love for Marvel Hero Spiderman could drive Deku to regain OFA. However, these two cases are vastly different - Peter Parker had no choice but to don the suit once more, while Deku doesn't need to have OFA once more, hence the new suit.
In relation to the new suit, some argue that despite its advancements, it is still made of metal and technology, which could break mid-battle, leaving Deku defenseless and possibly a liability. However, this can be argued. As seen before in My Hero Academia, technology develops rapidly. For instance, All Might's support item couldn't handle OFA at 20%, but Mei Hatsume's rendition of Deku's arm bracers could, and later, Melissa Shield's Full Gauntlet withstood OFA at 100%.
Moreover, the Iron Might armor that All Might used against All For One (AFO) serves as another example of the universe's superior technology. As per the series lore, it was rushed, and all safety protocols were ignored for quick development and raw power. Even with this, All Might was able to function quite well and fought off AFO for the duration he did.
Back to Deku's armor, it was designed and prepared after years of work and investment. Almost undoubtedly, it would be leaps and bounds ahead of the Iron Might armor, equipped with better features and superior durability.
A possible route
To reiterate, any moves beyond the series' ending must be carefully thought out and planned. Even so, there is one possible alternative that might work, depending on its execution - Deku could reawaken OFA through the last dying embers of its power. This would be similar to what All Might did against AFO in the Kamino Ward battle before he lost OFA for good.
In Deku's case, considering the worst possible scenario, he would need to dig deep and access the remnants of OFA. Then, in Shonen protagonist style, he could use this extreme burst of power to beat the villain and save the day before bidding a final goodbye to the power. Such a plot would be relatively fitting if executed well.
Furthermore, in the My Hero Academia series, OFA served its purpose for Deku and those before him. OFA to Midoriya was a power meant to save people, to which even Yoichi agreed. The latter viewed OFA to originate not through AFO's Quirk stockpiling but when Kudo reached out to save him. Similarly, Deku sacrificed OFA to reach Shigaraki. Granted, he was unable to save how he wanted to, but Deku used OFA the way he viewed it, which was what was powerful.
Final thoughts
In conclusion, My Hero Academia could benefit from making a new movie if it chooses to explore other sides of the series. Deku's character and journey reached a suitable end, and basing anything further on it might add needless weight. While the possible alternative mentioned earlier could be explored, its success mostly depends on appropriate execution.
In essence, Deku receiving the suit from Class 1-A is symbolic of him becoming a Hero once more. The ending of the series came full circle for Deku - from Quirkless to gaining one of the most powerful Quirks to Quirkless again. But in all this, his dream of being a Hero stood firm, and that is what was fulfilled at the end.
Regaining OFA would likely reduce the series' overall impact and diminish his character's journey.
