Arifureta season 3 episode 9: Hajime confesses his feelings for Shea as the return of season 2's villains is teased

Arifureta season 3 episode 9 was released on December 9, 2024. The episode, titled Changing Heart, saw Hajime deciding to return to his original world using the Everlasting Compass. Following this, the protagonist shared his complex feelings for Shea, as he realized that he had fallen in love with her. So, he confessed his feelings to her and added her to his group of lovers alongside Yue.

After making plans for their future, Hajime claimed they needed to pick up Yue from her home soon. Arifureta season 3 episode 9 then shifted to the antagonists' side, who were planning their next ambush. Surprisingly, these villains were the same as seen in the prequel, and their return might see them more powerful than before.

Arifureta season 3 episode 9 commenced where it left off, as Lyutillis, the master of the Haltina Labyrinth, gave Hajime the Everlasting Compass. The compass could guide its owner to their desires, even if they are in another world. This got Hajime thinking of a way to get reverse-isekai (return to the human world from the current fantasy world).

Lyutillis added that Hajime needed to collect all magic attributes to accomplish this achievement. She then bid farewell to everyone as she prayed for their future well-being. Yue, who looked worried after Hajime's question, was calmed down as the latter claimed that his next aim would be to return to his human world. Further, the Hero Party requested to join him, as they also belonged to the human world.

Arifureta season 3 episode 9 then saw Hajime claim that he needed to rest for the time being, given how the 'Limit Break' he did previously was showing its after-effects. As every girl agreed to give him a suitable rest, Shizuku saw the human Hajime inside the current one. Everyone then returned to Verbergen and stayed there for the time being.

Then, the princess of this area tried flirting with Hajime, which infuriated Shea and she slapped her. Funnily enough, the princess enjoyed it. Hajime told Shea to calm down, while she claimed that new girls kept entering the competition to win the protagonist. Arifureta season 3 episode 9 then saw Hajime pull Shea into his arms, as he stated she had a special place in his heart.

Further, during a meeting with the girls (other than Shea), Arifureta season 3 episode 9 saw them asking Hajime about his feelings for Shea. Hajime was confused but claimed that Shea felt like someone he shouldn't let go of. Ultimately, he realized that he had fallen in love with her. Yue approved her, while Shizuku and Tio got jealous over this.

Later, while Hajime was working on his weapons, Shea approached him and Hajime confessed his feelings for her. He then kissed her, however, the rest of the party was peeping on them. Shea got mad over everyone ruining her precious moment but Yue consoled her. This was followed by the Hero Party requesting Hajime to let them accompany him to the next Labyrinth.

The reason was that they wanted to see Eri, the antagonist of season 2, and knock some sense inside her so that they could return to the human world together. Hajime ultimately agreed to their proposal. Meanwhile, on the other side, Eri was preparing new soldiers with her Necromancer ability, accompanied by Freid, as she awaited the reunion with her old friends.

Freid, Noint, and Eri were the central antagonists of Arifureta season 2. Freid is the commander of the demon's army, Noint is an apostle created by a god, and Eri is one of the students who was reincarnated into this fantasy world (like Hajime and the Hero Party).

Even though Noint's body was used to reincarnate Shizuku, she might have been reborn, as she is a doll. Their return in Arifureta season 3 episode 9 might be the foreshadowing of something dangerous, given how no antagonist has returned in the past in this series.

So, their potential as sorcerers might be on another level, compared to their first appearance. Even though Hajime's party is now stronger than before (and they also have the Hero Party with them), there is no telling what the antagonists might be planning for the future.

The climax of Arifureta season 3 episode 9 saw Noint raiding the Sea City of Erisen, so the antagonists might have already started playing their cards. The question arises as to whether the protagonists jump into action on time.
