In Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War part ͏3, episode 10, the status of T͏oshir͏o ͏Hit͏sugaya a͏nd͏ Ran͏giku Matsumoto is finally explained after their transformation into zombies by Gi͏selle Gewelle. Earlier, Gisel͏le͏ had taken away their free will, turning them into her mindless servants.

However, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, the 12th Division Captain, steps in to save them. He uses a special drug to trap Toshiro in a mental loop, forcing him to stop trying to attack. Mayuri then paralyzes Toshiro with his Zanpakuto, Ashisogi Jizo, and gives him another drug to break Giselle’s control.

This method frees Toshiro but leaves him under Mayuri’s influence as one of his “zombies,” with a shorter lifespan as a result.

After defeating Pernida Parnkgjas, a wounded Mayuri tells Yumichika Ayasegawa and Ikkaku Madarame that he managed to free Toshiro and others. Toshiro and Rangiku then appear, and Toshiro thanks Mayuri despite his new condition.

Although he is now one of Mayuri’s creations, Toshiro regains his ability to fight and remains determined, even though his shorter lifespan is a heavy price to pay for his rescue.
