Boruto has already set up its Pain's Assault Arc, and it'll be Himawari's time to shine

With the release of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 17, fans must be under the impression that the manga is far from a huge battle. This is because Shikamaru had asked Konohamaru to take down Matsuri and Ryu by devious means. As for Boruto, Kashin Koji had asked him not to leave their hideout. However, evidence suggests that the manga could already be setting up its Pain Assault Arc.

As fans may remember, Naruto's Pain Assault Arc was one of the greatest arcs from the series that saw Akatsuki leader Pain invade the Hidden Leaf Village. He was in search of Naruto and happened to destroy the village and kill countless citizens in the process. Given the latest developments in the new manga, fans could witness a similar story arc soon.

Jura's presence in Konoha could lead to Boruto's Pain Assault Arc

As seen in the previous chapter, sentient Divine Tree Jura invaded the Hidden Leaf Village. Just as he entered the village, the Konoha Sensory Team informed the interim Hokage Shikamaru Nara about the intruder. However, instead of trying to take down the sentient Divine Tree, Shikamaru followed Kashin Koji's instruction and asked his Shinobi not to engage with Jura.

Surprisingly, even Jura himself seemingly had no desire to attack Konoha. He had only visited the village to purchase some books to read. The astonishing part is that he paid in cash and even handed some advance for future purchases.

Given that the sentient Divine Tree was planning to visit the bookstore in the future as well, there was no chance that he was planning to attack or destroy Konoha. But what if someone else were to instigate the fight? As revealed by the manga, the Daimyou and the village elders were willing to go to any lengths to wipe out the monsters. With that in mind, there is a possibility that the village elders might mess up Shikamaru's plan and engage Jura in combat.

As fans may remember, Danzo Shimura was the founder and leader of the ANBU Black Ops. Given that he shared the role of the village elder alongside Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane, there is a chance that the two current elders may have some influence over the ANBU as well.

If that is the case, the village elders could likely deploy ANBU Black Ops to engage Jura without Shikamaru's permission. Such an event will likely mess up Shikamaru's plan and see Jura fight the Konoha Shinobi and destroy parts of the Hidden Leaf Village. Considering that Jura was looking for Boruto and the protagonist was also away from the village, such a series of events might end up being the exact copy of Naruto's Pain Assault Arc.

The good thing is that similar to the case in Naruto, the Hidden Leaf Village does have a Kurama Jinchuriki to fight Jura. With that, fans could witness a second coming of Jura vs. Himawari Uzumaki. Fans can only hope that this fight helps Himawari develop her strength and make a name for herself.
